| 1967 | Heizer creates a new genre of land art or earth art. With his work Double Negative, he removes a displacement of earth to make two vast incisions opposite one another on the edge of Virgin River mesa, Silver Springs, Nevada. |
| since 1968 | Heizer begins creating large Earth works, primarily in California and Nevada |
| 1968 | Nine Nevada Depressions, Sierra Nevada |
| 1969 | For his first solo show at the Heiner Friedrich Gallery, Munich, he removes 1,000 tons of earth in a conical shape to create: Munich Depression, Munich-Neuperlach |
