1927 – 1932 Study at the Maryland Institute of Arts in Baltimore
1936 Morris Louis moves to New York; attendance at workshop of David Alfaro Siqueiros
1952 Assistant professor at Washington Workshop Center of Arts; he meets Kenneth Noland
1953 – 1961 Morris Louis acquires his own style after the methods of Helen Frankenthaler und Jackson Pollock. He is known for the pouring of thinned acrylic paint onto unprimed or partially primed canvases.
1962Morris Louis dies in Washington
